Strengthening planning capacity across the Baltic Sea Region
The Competence Centre also plays an important role in knowledge transfer and strengthening planning capacity. It supports municipalities through training programmes and self-study materials, while also creating opportunities to learn from peer experiences and gain insights from experts.
In this way, cities and regions can strengthen their planning capacities and advance their sustainable urban mobility goals. Through its activities, the Competence Centre supports the development of safe, accessible, inclusive, affordable, smart, resilient, and emission-free urban mobility systems.
We recommend starting your journey with the Competence Centre in the SUMPs section. It provides essential background information to help users understand what a SUMP is, why it is valuable for cities to have one, and what the current experiences and good practices in implementing SUMPs across the BSR region look like. Users who are already familiar with the theoretical foundations of SUMPs are encouraged to explore the tools and materials available on the platform, which can support and facilitate effective work on a SUMP.
